Is Brainly safe for kids? A parent's guide
Reviewed 2026-10-15 from public pages already cited in this directory. If a minimum age, an ad claim, or a data claim was not on those pages, this note says to check the app's terms.
Brainly lets someone snap or type a question and get an explanation or a posted answer. It is a poor fit for most elementary kids.
Minimum age and account rules
Brainly’s help center says you must be at least 13 to create an account. The tutor FAQ says you must be at least 13 to subscribe. The U.S. App Store listing rates the app 13+. This is not a COPPA kids’ product for under-13s.
Data and ads
That same App Store listing notes advertising and user-generated content. A full list of data fields was not in the pages we used for the directory note. Check the app's terms for the privacy policy details beyond ads and posts from other users.
Teaches or gives answers
The product is built around answers: verified answers, textbook solutions, step-by-step explanations, and a math solver on Plus. A child can use the steps to learn or to copy the result. This directory marks it “gives answers.”
Parent verdict
Skip it for elementary school. For a middle schooler who is already 13, talk about copying before the app is installed.
- Do not create an account for a child under 13.
- Decide in advance whether a posted answer counts as “checking work” or as doing the homework.
- Brainly Tutor’s FAQ lists math, physics, biology, and chemistry, from middle school through college. It is not a K–8 reading or writing program.
The full directory note is on the tool page. Age cutoffs for more apps are in is my kid old enough? The teaches-versus-answers labels are explained in apps that teach vs. give answers.
